I love the alien quality of the brussel sprouts when the stalks are trimmed. Someday, I want to grow some straight ones…
I removed a ton of things from the garden this weekend. The only remaining items are brussel sprouts and broccoli. The broccoli is done, but I just didn’t have the time to hack it up and take it out. I’m leaving the sprouts in the garden as we slowly get arond to eating them. The hops also need to be removed, but it’s hard to do it, because it leaves the trellis so bare, and it looks uber-winter when you see the yard that naked.
We had pumpkin vines that literally took over the whole area, but only produced 2 medium sized pumpkins before the frost stopped them cold. I’d say I packed up 50 lbs of limp vines for yard waste pickup… totally not worth it…
They do look alien! But taste so good! You mean they can be grown straight? So, you didn’t try Peter’s pumpkin leafe recipe?
