Just took a gamble and grabbed something unusual at the grocery store. It was a chocolate bar that you dissolve into hot milk to make hot chocolate. This product is from South America and it is chocolate mixed with sugar, cinnamon and cloves. The instructions recommend that you whiz it up in the blender. I made some for Ellie, and was impressed with the rich creamy quality. I recommend it if you stumble upon it on the grocery shelf.
For that matter, just using the blender to make hot chocolate might be worth a go.
This looks great! When we get the part to our broken blender, I will try it with the chocolate we just made, with a little added cinnimon.
I have recently been making Abuelita chocolate. I don’t like using my blender every time, so I melt it in a bit of boiling water in the bottom of the pan before I add the milk. I love the cinnamon-y flavor. I don’t know if it has cloves in it. I love that South American chocolate flavor. Maybe I’ll make some tonight in honor of you and Ellie!
Any latin american chocolate will do- I like Sol, too. And you don’t have to have a blender- just a whisk. I usually make this with a mixture of milk and water. (Good with a dash of Kahlua- but not for the kids.)
(Hi Nathan- remember me from College?)
Hi Cynthia,
Good to hear from you.
